Our bodies are made up of building blocks called cells. There is a nucleus in the middle of these cells. In the middle of the nucleus, there are structures that carry our genes, which we call chromosomes and DNA. And every cell has a normal lifespan.
A cell is born, grows and dies, just like a human being, it has a lifespan. However, if a damage develops in the unit that directs the cells, which we call this DNA, this process changes, and a pause occurs in this death process of its lifespan, and the cell begins to divide and multiply in an abnormal way. Therefore, it becomes like immortality. And as these cells multiply, it becomes a mass in the body, we call it a tumor. If this proliferation is unstoppable and rapid, we call it malignant cancers. Brain tumor is just like that.
In brain cells, cells that make up the brain, in the surrounding structures including vessels, membranes, etc. abnormal cell proliferation occurs due to damage to the DNA. And these abnormal cell proliferations cause a mass formation. And as we know that our skull is a closed box, this abnormal structure that develops in this closed box will cause an increase in intracranial pressure (pressure in the head), and it will cause loss of functions in our brain. In summary, this is the disease we call a brain tumor.
